Automatic issue creation with Mend for Jira
Overview
The Mend for Jira plugin offers the feature of automated Jira issue creation based on workflows created within the Mend Platform Application.
Getting it done
Before getting started, make sure you’ve installed and activated the Mend for Jira plugin for your platform:
Create your Mend Workflow
Create a workflow to trigger issue creation by doing the following:
Within the Mend Platform, click Workflows in the top navigation
Name your policy in the Workflow Name section.
In the Triggering Events section, select an event. Define your conditions as needed.
In the Actions section, select Create Jira Issue.
Click Add.
This will take you back to the Automation Workflows page, showing the active Issue policy created.
Define your default Jira project
Before mapping your Mend and Jira scopes, you must select a Default Jira Project in which Jira issues without a specific Mend mapping will be created.
This is a mandatory setting; if no other mapping is provided, all Jira issues will be created in the defined Default Jira Project:
Trigger the automatic issue creation
When a scan result meets the condition of the created “Issue” workflow (as a completion of a Mend scan), an issue creation is triggered in the Mend Platform.
Note: By default, the plugins also automatically query the Mend Platform to see if new issues need to be created and/or existing issues need updating.
The Mend for Jira Cloud plugin checks for issue creation/updates every thirty minutes.
The “Mend SAST Alert” Jira issue
The Mend for Jira plugin opens a “Mend SAST Alert” Jira issue within your integrated Jira project(s) that contains a summary of the detected scan findings relevant to the Mend scopes and policies mapped:
