Prerequisites before you work with Mend Advise Code in JetBrains IDEs

Mend Advise Code uses the Mend CLI to effortlessly scan your projects within JetBrains IDEs.

Set up the Mend CLI for Mend Advise Code in JetBrains IDEs

• Download the Mend CLI on the machine where you will be running one of the supported JetBrains IDEs and Mend Advise Code.

• Authenticate your Mend CLI login via the mend auth login command.

• If you are using JetBrains IDE and the Mend CLI on a macOS machine, you must have Docker installed and running.

Install Mend Advise Code for JetBrains IDEs

Once you have downloaded and authenticated the Mend CLI, you are ready to install the Mend Advise Code plugin within JetBrains IDEs:

1. Locate and open your JetBrains IDE application.

2. Navigate to File → Settings (Ctrl + Alt + S).

   

3. Navigate to Plugins → Marketplace:

   

4. Search for Mend in the search bar.

5. Install Mend Advise Code for the specific IntelliJ IDE you are using.

6. Restart your JetBrains IDE to enable Mend Advise Code and start scanning!

Upgrade Mend Advise Code for JetBrains IDEs

To upgrade the Mend Advise Code plugin, do as follows:

1. From the menu bar, select File > Settings > Plugins. Ensure that you are in the Installed tab. A list of installed plugins is displayed.

2. In the Downloaded section, search for Mend Advise Code, and on the right-hand side, click Update.
   NOTE: If there is no new version, the Update button will not appear, and there is no need to continue this procedure. 

3. Select Mend Advise Code.

4. Restart JetBrains IDE if you are prompted to do so to complete the upgrade.

Uninstall Mend Advise Code for JetBrains IDEs

To uninstall the Mend Advise Code plugin, do as follows: 

1. From the menu bar, select File > Settings > Plugins. Ensure that you are in the Installed tab. A list of installed plugins is displayed. 

2. In the Downloaded section, search for Mend Advise Code and click it. The Mend Advise Code plugin page is displayed.

3. On the right-hand side, click the drop-down box, and then click Uninstall. The Plugin Uninstall dialog box is displayed. 

4. Click Yes to confirm.

5. Restart JetBrains IDE if you are prompted to do so to complete the uninstallation.
