Configure Kubernetes native with Mend’s Kubernetes integration

Overview

The Mend Kubernetes (K8s) cluster integration can connect with your K8s native service using your provided kubeconfig file.

Getting it done

Prerequisites before you configure Mend’s Kubernetes integration for Kubernetes native

  • Your Mend user must be an organization administrator in order to access the Cloud Native UI.

  • Your provided kubeconfig file is in JSON or YAML file format and contains the following scopes:

    • apiVersion

    • kind

    • clusters

    • users

    • contexts

Set up the Mend Kubernetes integration for Kubernetes native in the Mend Application

  1. Within the Mend Application, navigate to the Cloud Native UI:

  2. Navigate to the Integrations dashboard:

  3. Click on the Kubernetes tab.

  4. Click on + Add K8s service:

  5. The “Add K8s service?” pop-up wizard appears. Select K8s Native for the Service Type setting to start the configuration setup for K8s native.

  6. Fill out the Step 1 - Integration info section with your K8s native information. For more information on the parameters provided, refer to the Kubernetes native parameters section within this document:

  7. Once you provide your kubeconfig file, click on Submit:

  8. In Step 2 - Cluster selection, confirm the number of clusters identified is correct and which are accessible to Mend for the integration:

  9. Click on Apply to add your K8s native integration:

Parameter

Description

Display Name

The name of your K8s integration. This will be displayed in the Integrations dashboard → Kubernetes tab.

Description

Optional. Provide any text. We recommend providing information that will help you remember the integration.

Environments

Select the type of environment of your K8s native service (multiple options can be selected). The environment options are:

  • Production

  • Dev

  • QA

  • Staging

Please add your kubeconfig file

Drag & drop or click on Select File to provide your kubeconfig file for the integration.
