Using Third Party Authentication Options for Mend
This article will provide instructions on how to use social account authentication to log in to Mend and answer some frequently asked questions. Social account authentication is not SAML authentication. To learn about how to integrate SAML authentication with Mend, go to the ‘Mend SAML 2.0 Integration’ document.
Enabling Social Account Authentication
On the Mend log in page click the button for the social identity provider that you wish to use as Mend authentication.
In the dialog box, enter your credentials and save.
After you are logged in go to your user profile (link at top right of screen) > Profile > Social Identities and click ‘Associate Social Account’

1. After enabling social account authentication will I still be able to use my email to log in to Mend?
Yes, enabling social account authentication does not prevent you from using other forms of authentication.
2. Can I use social account authentication when using SAML?
No, although enabling social account authentication will not prevent you from using other forms of authentication, if your organization has enabled SAML you can only use SAML.
3. Can I ensure that other members of my organization use their social account and only their social account?
No, enabling social account authentication is on a user-basis intended to make logging in to Mend easier and more convenient. If you would like to ensure the members of your organization log in using a specific method, we would recommend that you enable SAML authentication.
